“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players…”

I try to tell stories through paintings, small vignettes of life told through a composition of shape and color. It’s a moment in time, captured for others to see; a drama played out on a flat, 2 dimensional surface that, perhaps, speaks to the viewer. Exploring color and the effect each choice has on a composition will forever be a fascination for me.

I tend to work in a series. I love painting clear glass lit with colored light. The color reflected in the glass is beguiling, dancing across the objects inside. Or it could be the undulations of a flame, contained within the glass but achieving freedom through the glass opening, endlessly fascinating to capture.

Birds also play an important part in the stories that I tell. As a child, my mother hung a poster on my bedroom wall of crows with umbrellas walking in the rain...my forever favorite will be the crow but other birds have stories, too.

Whatever story I am painting, my ultimate influence will always God’s glorious creation.
