Nancy Luttrell
Acrylic, Oil & Watercolor
Nancy Luttrell had an illustrious career as a musician. She was a Professor of Violin at WSU for 32 years, played with the Wichita Symphony for 54 years and an Associate Concertmaster for 33 years. Nancy’s has also received numerous teaching awards of excellence and her performances have been heard on National Public Radio.
It was during a year long recovery from a shoulder injury that Nancy picked up a pencil and began doodling. This lead to a drawing class and Nancy, seeing beyond retirement, took a watercolor class from Anne Horton, an instructor for many years in Wichita, which has kept her on this life long love of the fine arts. Since that time in 2010 she has learned from several local artists and taken workshops from world renown artists Paul Jackson and Ye Wang.
Nancy is a member of the Kansas Art Guild, Wichita Women Artists and Kansas Academy of Oil Painters. If asked, “what are your favorite subjects”, she would answer, “It’s kind of like music, it would be the one I was working on at the moment.” You might find her painting an architectural piece, flowers, landscapes, portrait or a still life. Her mediums include acrylic, oil and watercolor. As Nancy has continued down this path of learning she has garnered several high awards from locally judged shows and for several years was accepted into the National Watercolor Show of Kansas.
Nancy hopes you are as anxious as she is to see what she will paint next!
